Take Action! TX Lege Voting Wed. on Medicaid Expansion Amendment!
Do you ever get the feeling that some of our state leaders would like to ignore the fact that Texas has the highest uninsured rate in the nation?
Does it seem like some of them want to ignore the fact that Texas could expand Medicaid and cover a million uninsured Texans?
Well, on Wednesday, the 150 members of the Texas House of Representatives won't be able to ignore Medicaid expansion or our state's uninsured rate.
Instead, they're going to have to vote on it.
The House will be voting on a long list of potential amendments to the state budget bill, including an amendment by Rep. John Bucy directing the state's Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to accept the Medicaid expansion funding offered by the federal government.
We encourage you to call your Representatives TODAY and urge them to support the budget amendment by Rep. Bucy to expand Medicaid to provide a health insurance option to uninsured janitors, cooks, cashiers, and other low-wage Texans.
