Time to Sign Up for Insurance on HealthCare.Gov!

Open enrollment just started for insurance on HealthCare.Gov!

If you need health coverage for 2027, be sure to log in and check out your options. And if you already have coverage through HealthCare.Gov, we encourage you to update your application and make sure your plan is still the best fit for you.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Congress failed to continue the extra subsidies that started in 2021 — but the original Obamacare tax credits are still in place. That means many Texans will still be able to find plans that cost under $30 per month and have deductibles as low as $0.

  • All HealthCare.Gov plans cover essential health benefits, including prescription drugs, emergency services, hospitalization, laboratory services, and mental health and substance use treatment services. Preventive care visits still cost nothing for enrollees, even if they choose a plan with a high deductible.

  • Enroll by December 15th if you want your health plan to kick in on January 1st.

  • Cigna and Scott and White Health Plan are no longer available in Texas for 2027. Texans enrolled in those plans have until December 31st to enroll in a plan that starts January 1st.

  • Health care navigators are available around the state to help Texans enroll by phone and (in some areas) in-person. Use the “Find Local Help” tool at HealthCare.gov and select the option only for “Independent assisters” to find trustworthy, local application assistants.

Be sure to spread the word to anyone else who needs health coverage for 2027!
