Congress Takes Next Step Towards Medicaid Cuts — Raise Your Voice Today!
Potential Medicaid cuts continues to be one of the top issues facing Congress.
The US House and Senate recently pass a budget framework that starts the process of writing a bill with specific cuts to Medicaid and other programs. Once lawmakers write that bill, they will have to vote it out of committee and bring it to the full House and Senate for a vote.
Congressional leaders are ffacing significant obstacles as they try to develop a plan that can get enough votes. One of their biggest challenges is that Americans are making clear every day that we oppose Medicaid cuts! In fact, President Trump's own pollster has found that Medicaid cuts are unpopular with swing voters and Trump voters.
Congressional leaders are hoping to quickly reach a deal and push through the Medicaid cuts, so please continue to contact members of Congress over the next two weeks to urge them to oppose the cuts!
We particularly need phone calls from Texans who live in Rep. Gonzales' district (including the west side of San Antonio, Del Rio, Fort Stockton, and Uvalde) and Rep. De La Cruz's district (including Seguin, Edinburg, and McAllen). They are on the short list of GOP members who have publicly raised concerns about Medicaid cuts. Please thank them for speaking out and urge them to vote against cutting Medicaid.
Let's keep up the fight to protect our health care!
