Over 60 Groups Call On TX Legislature to Fix Outdated Medicaid Enrollment System
Over 60 Texas organizations sent a letter to the Legislature urging them to support HHSC’s budget request to overhaul outdated technology in the state’s SNAP and Medicaid health insurance enrollment system.
The groups pointed out that the outdated technology leads to delays, backlogs, and other challenges with Medicaid applications for children, pregnant women, people with disabilities, and seniors. The letter urges legislators to ensure the enrollment system works properly when currently eligible Texans attempt to use it.
A wide variety of groups signed the letter, including Texans Care for Children, Texas 2036, Texas Pediatric Society, Texas Medical Association, Houston Food Bank, Tarrant Area Food Bank, Lubbock Area United Way, United Way of the Brazos Valley, Greater Longview United Way, United Way of Midland, Valley Interfaith, and many others.
