Medicaid rules change April 1 — New website can help!
In just a few days, new Medicaid rules will kick in — and millions of Texas kids and moms will be at risk of losing their health insurance.
As the pandemic Public Health Emergency’s Medicaid rules come to an end on April 1st, the state will begin rechecking Medicaid eligibility for millions of Texas.
Texans enrolled in Medicaid for Pregnant Women will need to transition to a new health program when the state cuts off their health insurance two months after their pregnancy. The return to the two-month cut off policy is one of the reasons we’re working so hard to pass HB 12 at the Legislature to extend this health coverage to a full year.
Kids enrolled in Children’s Medicaid will need to transition to a new program if they are no longer eligible or ensure they renew their coverage if they are still eligible for Medicaid.
The new staycoveredtx.org website has more information for Texans enrolled in Medicaid as well as community organizations, medical providers, and others who work with Texans enrolled in Medicaid.
As you’ll see on the website, Texans enrolled in Medicaid should start by ensuring all their information — mailing address, family size, job, etc. — is up-to-date on YourTexasBenefits.com. If you need help accessing your account, call 2-1-1, choose your language, and then select option 2.
Texans who might still be eligible for Medicaid should be sure to quickly reply to the letter they receive from the state Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) about renewing their coverage.
Please help spread the word to Texans who get their health insurance through Medicaid! We appreciate your help!
