Medicaid Expansion Bills Filed for the 2023 Legislative Session

This week was the first chance for state legislators to start filing bills for the legislative session that will kick off at the Texas Capitol in January.

The first day of bill filing often shows us which issues legislators are most passionate about — so we were excited to see that several members of the House and Senate started filing Medicaid expansion bills right out of the gate!

As you know, Texas has the worst uninsured rate in the nation, and implementing Medicaid expansion is the biggest step that our state leaders could take to ensure more Texans get the health coverage they need.

We know it will be an uphill battle, but we are fired up to fight to pass Medicaid expansion this session and hold state leaders accountable if they continue to stand in the way.
