Improving Access to Health Services for Children

I recently had the privilege of being a featured speaker for a webinar from the U.S. Health and Human Services Department.  I got to talk about the successful advocacy and specific outreach strategies that helped our state achieve and maintain gains in children’s health coverage in recent years.  As you may know, after more than ten years of being the state with the highest rate of uninsured children, Texas isn't anymore. (Sorry, Nevada.) We attribute these hard-won gains to the effectiveness of our statewide advocacy partnerships and collaborations with businesses like Fiesta Mart Inc., H-E-B grocery company, McDonald's, and others.  These efforts were integrated strategic partnerships with schools, media, faith, and other community partners, and all of that helps maximize the success of our outreach.

Read more here about how Texas led the nation in recent years in bringing down our rate of uninsured children.
